Waterford Green Party to Nominate Candidates for 2017 Election

Waterford, CT- On Saturday, June 17, 2017, the Waterford Green Party Town Committee will meet to nominate candidates for public office. This is the second set of municipal elections in which the party will participate, and they will be working to build off their past success. In 2015, they saw their first victory with the election of Party Co-Chair Joshua Steele Kelly to the Zoning Board of Appeals as an alternate, and in 2016 the Green candidate for State Representative in District 38, Lauren Shaw, more than doubled the number of votes for the Greens from the 2014 election. Since then, the Party has grown in size both in and outside the town government. Josh Kelly was appointed to serve as an alternate on the Conservation Commission and as a Justice of the Peace, and Party Co-Chair Baird Welch-Collins has been appointed to serve as a Justice of the Peace and as a full member of the Flood and Erosion Control Board. The Waterford Greens expect to increase the number of people on their ticket from 2015, and are extremely excited to engage with the community on the issues facing the town.

Anyone interested in running for office or in learning more about the Green Party is encouraged to contact the Waterford Greens at 860-912-7624 or [email protected] The nominating convention will be held in the Waterford Public Library at 3:00pm on the 17th, and all are welcome to attend the meeting.
